What’s the cause of bipolar disorder?

No diagnostic test is not specific to the cause of bipolar disorder is still a treatment for this condition. There are also a number of factors contribute to its onset. Their physiology, genetics, environment include where you live and work.

i have had a terrible time with this illness and if a surgical treatment that will free me from it for the rest of my life like this is developed then i will take the risk. i am already a slave to lithium and it makes me feel ill. but the alternative is to get worse and have more institutionalisations and suicide attempts. i'd rather risk it than be guaranteed the misery i have now. sure it's a gamble. all surgery is but isn't that better than being DEAD?

I have to say that if brain surgery would help my son with this horrable disease, I would have it done for him in a heart beat. He has been in and out of jail and last time prision for the things that he does when he gets depressed manic. He tends to turn to drugs which leads to robbing and doing things that he would never do if he could stay under control of himself. I miss him when his birthday or mine passes. Hoildays are hell for me and to think that its a chemical enbalance of the brain that turns someone that is so caring and giving into a person you don't even know, its so sad and scary.

i have bipolar. there is nothing new under the sun. history repeats itself. Bipolar is manageable without surgery. If the patient wants it bad enough , lots of trial and error with meds and alot of patience with self. experimenting with surgery is like drilling holes in the head with newer equipment technology. everyone wants instant fixes. try more exercising. good for body and brain. don't become a medical Ginny pig while ur still alive.
